Happy Halloween! & The Amazing Dir en grey Pumpkin
I’m off to the capital this weekend, so I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween!
Hope you all will eat good, drink good and live good. Be mean to the kids. The lovely bessydevlin @ LJ has been carving a pumpkin for a week, and the result is awesome! Seriously amazing, right?

So I’ll update on Monday. If possible of course I’ll tune in this weekend also. Until then, have a great weekend!
Sendai Kamotsu’s Final(?) Album & DVD Release
New release by Sendai Kamotsu this Wednesday, which might be their last one
This fall it was announced that, due to financial crisis, the Nightmare alter ego band Sendai Kamotsu has gone bankrupt. The show at Nippon Budokan onthe 5th f November “Sendai Kamotsu ~FOREVER~” will be their final concert maybe forever.
On this Wednesday, though, their album「凸~デコ~」(Deko) will be released. The track list is as follows:
1.ああ人生に涙あり (Aa Jinsei ni Namida Ari)
2.絶交門 (Zekkomon)
3.ウンチ君 (Unchi-Kun)
4.腐況の風 (Fukyo no Kaze)
5.珍龍~cheng long~ (Cheng Long)
6.芸スクール漢組!! (Gei School Otoko Gumi!!)
7.俺ら東京さ行ぐだ (Ora Tokyo sa Ikuda)
8.うまなみで。(Umanami de.)
9.フレディ・まーつりー Tommy&Rocky’s theater ~祭らないか~ フレディ・まーつりー Tommy&Rocky’s theater ~やらないか~ 相馬盆唄 (Freddy Matsuri Tommy & Rocky’s Theater – Matsuranaika – Freddy Matsuri Tommy & Rocky’s Theater – Yaranaika – Souma Bon Uta)
10.おうた (Outa)
11.神様もう少しだけ (Kami-Sama Mousukoshi Dake)
The first press limited edition is already sold out at CDJapan, but available at YesAsia (US$40.25). The regular version is available from both stores at the cost of US$32.75.
Also, the live DVD Zekkomon will be released the same date as the album. The DVD contains the hilarious performance at Ryogoku Kokugaikan, the national sumo wrestling hall in Tokyo, which took place on the 8th of November 2008. I’m buying this for sure, I was there and it was so much fun. It was the first concert with the band I had attended, and the first one witht his kind of crazy band. The venue is huge, all the people did their para para and the unison headbanging was awesome. Now I feel seriously lucky to have seen these guys, even though I’m not super proud over being a fan, Sendai Kamotsu are truly a unique band.
ESTROGEN, PLEASE
DEAD ANGLE SHOW NEEDS MORE ESTROGEN!!
Give me your top favorite women in music (rock, metal, Japanese, Western…!) for me to post about!
I’m thinking Shiina Ringo, Brody Dalle (The Distillers, Spinerette), Candace Kucsulain (Walls of Jericho), SCANDAL (HAHAHA I LOVE THEM) as well as the goddesses of electro-ambient, Tujiko Noriko and Piana.
Dir en grey Signing Session In NYC, VIP Tickets Info
Dir en grey will hold a signing session for the first NYC show on the 11/11 (Wed)
This was just announced on the band’s Twitter and Facebook;
The entire band will be signing for fans at the 11/11 NYC show (Wed)…tickets are going fast at http://bit.ly/AVTtour
Although, no info on where the actual signing will take place. I’m guessing you guys already have bought your tickets? Have you gtotten your VIP tickets yet? There’s been a lot of drama on why the VIP tickets look the same as the ordinary ones, but notice that the VIP ones have “Fan Club” on them instead of “Adult”. Here’s also a sneak peak of the t-shirt for those of you who haven’t seen it yet:

VIP Pass T-shirt for NYC (http://community.livejournal.com/diru_tabloids/93282.html)
It has no tour dates or so at the back, and it seriously lame in my opinion. But oh, I’m not getting a signing session or 3-day headline show with probably epic setlists! Since the tour takes off in just about a week from now, I hope everyone enjoys it!
New DEAD END Single & PV: Princess
The legendary DEAD END is back after decades
These four really, really, REALLY old men (dare I call them veterans?) have finally released the PV for their new single Princess. It was in July this year we were told they were being reunited and info on a new DEAD END album came in September. So, finally we get to actually hear some of what the final product has to offer. I, who wasn’t even born the years these guys were active can only imagine the anticipation from their older fans. But I find Princess really awesome!
What do you think? What are your expections on the new album? Comment!
New MUCC Live DVD: Live Chronicle 3 ~”Kyutai” in Nippon Budokan~
MUCC are always up to something, always having at least one new release to keep their fans excited about. Now, only a few weeks after the announcement of the new single Freesia (Nov. 25th) a live DVD is to be released on December 23.

MUCC live at Tavastia in 2007: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chelsea_6791/437795658/
The DVD, named “Live Chronicle 3 ~”Kyutai” in Nippon Budokan~” will feature the 180 minutes long concert at Nippon Budokan on 2009.03.25. That’s 3 hours (!!!). Spectacular as always. The limited edition comes with a whole bunch of extra treat. A “Special Prestige Package”, a picture booklet and a reproduction from both tour staff passes and (this is awesome!) a reproduction of the guitar picks from both Miya and YUKKE.
Seeing as the last Ltd. Edition Live Chronicle DVD was on sale for 14286 yen (155 USD, CDJapan) I wouldn’t expect any less amount this time. So, all you hardcore MUCC fans out there, you know what to wish for Christmas this year!
In case anyone have missed, Barks are featuring a MUCC documentary series from the Europe tour. But if you’ve expected to see yourself at the front of you show, I’m truly sorry to have to dissapoint you! It’s all about food! The series is called “Seikai no itadakimasu”. As of today, videos of Helsinki (Finland) and Sweden’s Stockholm and Malmö are on Barks.jp.
DIR EN GREY New Single Release Updates
As always before a new single release from Dir en grey, there are hundreds of rumours and speculations on how the song(s) will turn out to be. This time, as you all know, we’re talking about the first single since GLASS SKIN last Sep; 激しさと、この胸の中で絡み付いた灼熱の闇*
A couple of new things have been announced regarding this single. As the “Bonus Item” for the Limited Edition you will recieve a B3 poster (apart from the DVD). If you have orded a “discreet package” from e.g YesAsia or CDJapan, you might want to check it up since it’s not 100% that it will change by itself in order for the posters to come along. Or do you guys have any idea, any experience from this?
Next thing is the sound, the style, the highly anticipated new direction. DOZING GREEN was a much welcomed hint of a new direction from MARROW OF A BONE, but was still made into a new version on UROBOROS. This time I have read that many are hoping for some sort of VINUSHKA-like song, with melodies and darkness. As already official, a member from the Swedish band Opeth will put his touch to the single by post production (right? I’m not too good with these terms), which could say some about how the new single will sound like. It will not be a ballad. Enough said.
To confirm this, there’s a new interview with Toshiya for FLYING POSTMAN PRESS, uploaded on Orchestrated Chaos, where he basically says this:
The single is noisy (laughs). But, I think the only ones who can forgive it us just us 5. I would be thankful if there are people who would support it. After doing this for more than 10 years, we’ve been influenced and fascinated by several things, still when we, who have absorbed a lot, think of what we want to do; I think that this is kind of direction it becomes.

This Week’s Featured Artist: Sel’m
A new feature to celebrate the comeback: Artist of the week!

Expect very me-biased bands, a nice mix of Japanese and Western bands. Range all the way from metal to ambient, but no country, no sir! You’re all more than welcome to give me tips about your favourite band, just remember that the major ones are not really of interest, unless you provide a hell of a motivation! So, for example this week, I’d like to focus on Sel’m.
Sel’m is a band formed in Tokyo just about 5 years ago from now. The lineup is as follows:
- Tora (V)
- Tsubaki (G)
- Takuma (B)
- Manji (Dr)
- Nagi (G)
What caught my attention was that Takuma and Manji are former Dir en grey roadies, also the guitarist Tsubaki has worked as a roadie for Kagerou. Other bands on these guys’ CV:s are Merry and girugämesh.
Sel’m is a really great band, with amazing vocals and right-on-the-spot melodies, without being lame and still kicking serious ass. Perfect mix of hard riffs & headbaning and sensitive vocals. They are out on tour right now, including venues such as Osaka MUSE and Sendai CLUB JUNK BOX.
